Answers, in plain words.

Getting started

What does ScanSays do?

You upload the written report from an ultrasound, MRI, CT or X-ray. ScanSays reads every line, explains it in plain words and shows each finding on a 3D body at the size and position the report gives.

Do I need my actual scan images?

No. ScanSays reads the written report, the page or PDF your clinic gives you. It does not read scan images.

How do I upload a report?

Choose the report type, then take a photo of each page or upload the PDF. Lay the page flat in good light and make sure all the text is inside the frame.

Which scans can it read?

At launch: abdomen and kidneys, prostate and bladder, chest X-ray, thyroid, pelvis (uterus and ovaries) and pregnancy scans. If your report mentions an organ we can't draw yet, we still explain it in words.

Where can I use it?

On the web, and in the iPhone and Android apps once they launch.

Reports & accuracy

How accurate is the reading?

Printed text is usually read reliably. Handwriting, blur and folds make mistakes more likely, so anything we're unsure about is shown to you to confirm before it's drawn. The report's own words are always beside our explanation so you can check them.

A finding looks wrong. What do I do?

On the “Check what we found” screen you can correct a measurement or flag a line. If something still looks wrong, email support@scansays.com with the upload date and report type.

My report says a page is attached, but I don't have it.

Some reports put measurements on a separate printout. If we spot this, we'll ask you to add the missing page. Without it, we explain the finding but can't show its exact size.

Is the 3D body a picture of me?

No. It's a typical anatomical model, scaled and marked using the measurements in your report. It shows what the report describes, not what your body looks like.

Payments & refunds

How much does it cost?

You pay per scan, and the price depends on the report type. You always see the price before you pay.

What is the wallet?

You can top up a wallet with packs of 1, 5 or 10 scans and use them for yourself or anyone you scan for. Your wallet history shows every top-up and every scan.

What if you can't read my report?

If we can't read your report at all, the charge goes straight back to your wallet automatically.

Do I pay again to see a past result?

No. Every result you've paid for stays in My Scans, and you can reopen it any time.

Is my card information safe?

Card payments are handled by our payment provider, Stripe. Your full card number never reaches our servers.

Family & languages

Can I upload a report for someone else?

Yes, as long as you have their permission, or you're their parent or legal guardian. Add them under “People I scan for” so their results stay separate from yours.

Which languages are available?

English, Urdu, Arabic, Hindi, Chinese, Korean, Russian, Spanish and French. Explanations change language; the report's own wording always stays exactly as the lab wrote it.

Is my report sent anywhere to be translated?

No. Explanations come from reviewed sentence templates stored in ScanSays, so your report isn't sent to a translation service.

Privacy & your data

Who can see my reports?

Only you, through your account. Reports are encrypted in storage and in transit. Read our privacy policy for the full detail.

How do I delete my data?

You can delete a scan from My Scans, or delete your whole account under Account. You can also email privacy@scansays.com.

Do you sell my data?

No. We don't sell personal data or use your reports for advertising.

Medical questions

Can ScanSays tell me if I'm OK?

No. ScanSays explains what your report says. It doesn't diagnose or predict. Please talk to your doctor about what your results mean for you.

Why are pregnancy results worded so carefully?

Because they matter so much. We restate what was measured and where the report itself says something is normal. We never call a baby healthy or unhealthy, and we don't show the baby's sex.

What if my report looks urgent?

Contact your doctor or clinic. In an emergency, call your local emergency number. ScanSays is not an emergency service.
